In the lively discussions about Karavelov's worldview and work in recent years, the Soviet philosopher Lev Valentinovich Vorobyov also intervened. His articles appeared in Bulgarian scientific publications, magazines and newspapers, which suggested resourceful and original thought, an open-minded attitude towards facts, controversial concepts and their authors. In 1962, his book "Philosophical and Sociological Views of Lyubena Karavelova" was published. The following year, the monograph "Lyuben Karavelov. Worldview and Work" appeared. The two studies, with certain compositional changes, represent the doctoral dissertation of L. V. Vorobyov, which he defended in June 1962 in Kiev. While in the first book the researcher is exclusively interested in the ideology of the Bulgarian revolutionary, the second study gives a comprehensive idea of ​​Karavelov - the public figure, the writer, the encyclopedist. Without belittling the value of "Philosophical and Sociological Views of Lyubena Karavelova", we will express our opinion on the second book of the Soviet scientist. In it, the author thoroughly presents all his observations and conclusions, which are also the subject of his first study.

In the Soviet Union, there has long been a lively interest in Bulgarian literature. The works of Bulgarian writers are published and widely distributed throughout the vast Soviet land. First place here is occupied by translations into Russian. By 1944, several dozen books with works by Vazov, Karavelov, Botev, Smirnensky, Geo Milev, M. Marchevsky, L. Stoyanov, etc. were published in Russian. The Russian reader became acquainted with the merits of our native literature, loved it, and began to seek it out. However, relations at that time with bourgeois Bulgaria did not contribute to the widespread translation and distribution of Bulgarian literature. The victory of the people's power on September 9 opened a new page in the relations of our homeland with the USSR. Having embarked on a new path, Bulgaria established the closest fraternal relations with the great Soviet country. Our lively cultural ties favored the distribution of Bulgarian literature in the Soviet Union. The number of translations there grew rapidly. Today, translations into Russian hold first place among all other languages. Over the past twenty years, 217 separate books of works by Bulgarian writers have been published in Russian in the USSR. A significant part of the works of our masters of the literary word are already known to the Russian reader.

Soviet folklore studies have accumulated rich research material. The vast land of the victorious October has revealed interesting aspects of the spiritual culture of a number of nationalities and tribes, which have shed new light on folk poetic creativity. The numerous works published with folklore materials and monographic studies have greatly facilitated the theoretical studies of Soviet scientists, enriched their knowledge and ideas about the origin, character and essence of folklore. Recently, several works on the aesthetics of folklore have also appeared.

On January 16, 1969, the Scientific Council at the Institute of Literature discussed the work of Prof. Yuri Konstantinovich Begunov - Ph.D. - Kozma Presbyter in Slavic Literatures. In addition to the members of the Scientific Council, the work of the extended meeting was attended by lecturers from Sofia State University "Kliment Ohridski", from the Higher Pedagogical Institute "Cyril and Methodius" in Tarnovo and researchers from the institutes of Bulgarian Language and Balkan Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. This interest in the work is due both to its problematics and to the broad framework in which the study of the famous "Conversation" of Presbyter Kozma is set. The result of the joint work between the Institute of Literature at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Russian Literature (sector of Old Russian Literature) in Leningrad, the work of Yu. K. Begunov is new evidence of the fruitful Bulgarian-Soviet cooperation in the field of science.
