Nikolay Aretov is Dr. Hab., Professor in the Institute for literature, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Editor-in-chief of Literaturna missal periodical. He is author of the books: Dimitar i Rahil Dushanovi (Sofia, Narodna Prosveta, 1988), Translated Prose from the First Half of 19th Century (Sofia, UP, 1990), Bulgarian Murder: Outline of a History of Bulgarian Literature of Crime and Detection (Sofia, UP 1994, 2 ed. 2007), Vasil Popovich. His Live and his Works (Sofia, Queen Mab Publ. 2000), National Mythology and National Literature (Sofia, Queen Mab Publ. 2006), Bulgarian Literature from the Age of National Revival (Sofia, Queen Mab Publ. 2009), Asen Christophorov: From London to Matsakurtsi via Belene (Sofia, Queen Mab Publ. 2011). His research interests are in the field of history of literature, comparative literature, and cultural studies.
